The Estuarine and Coastal Modeling Conference provides a venue for commercial, academic, and government scientists and engineers from around the world to present and discuss the latest results and techniques in applied estuarine and coastal modeling.

Accepted presenters may also submit papers to a special issue of the open-source Journal of Marine Science and Engineering (JMSE).


Registration

Registration should be done online at our registration webpage. You will need to specify your choice of presentation type (poster or talk) and submit an abstract if you are presenting. The registration fee includes a social on Monday as well as breakfast and lunch each day.

Venue

The conference will be held at the University of Rhode Island Kingston Campus. Lodging and shared meals at URI will promote a retreat-like environment for the meeting, providing ample opportunity for discussion and meeting new colleagues. Sessions will be held on the Kingston Campus at the College of Pharmacy, and on the Bay Campus at the Graduate School of Oceanography. Providence and Newport are both about 30 minutes away.

Newport Trip

Tuesday afternoon is free, and buses will be available to take partipants to Newport, RI for Mansion Tours, the Cliff Walk, or other activities.


Poster Session

The Poster Session will be held lobby of the School of Pharmacy on Monday before dinner and will be available throughout the conference. You may introduce your poster with a 1 minute/1 slide presentation in a special lighting talk session immediately preceding the Poster Session. The recommended poster dimension is 30'' x 40''. Beer and wine will be served during the poster session.


Lodging

URI Housing will provide single and double rooms for conference attendees at the following rates per night: $58 Single, $69 Double*. Hotel arrangements have been made at two local hotels; the Holiday Inn 401-789-1051 at $109 plus tax, and the Hampton Inn 401-788-3500 at $129 plus tax. Mention group code "ECM" for these rates. Other options in the area may also be available.

Transportation

The Providence airport is about 30 minutes away. The other major airport is Boston, about 1.5-2 hours away (depending on traffic).
